This is an opinion based on MY way of thinking, so if you don’t like it, don’t sweat it. You see, high heels and hot flashes really don’t go together because as soon as that hot flash kicks in, you want to take off that high heel and beat somebody with it. That’s the way I feel about the ever growing sexual assault, harassment and rape accusations coming out of Holly-weird. The problem is, I don’t know who to hit. There could be a green monster in every office and every studio.
My experience with sexual harassment has been minimal. It may have been minimal because perverts usually have a type that is not me and I come off as too mean in the first place. For the most part, these pigs want women and experiences that mimic what they think they saw in Playboy when they were kids. When it comes to jobs or the so called “casting couch”, all women don’t get that far into the circle to be invited to a hotel room and subsequently harassed, especially if they don’t have “the look” the pervert likes. Mean girls also don’t get invited because the pigs know a mean girl could hurt them in more ways than one. My experience was so minimal that I can’t remember the names, places or the pigs involved. (Yes I can). Not to worry, I handled it big time. They may still be walking around looking over their shoulders to make sure I am not back there with a machete. They know who they are and I know they don’t have enough money to make it worth my while. If I sued them to get what I would want, they would be homeless and subsequently contaminating the streets.
We, as women and young men (in the case of the actor who accused Kevin Spacey of a sexual assault) aren’t always prepared for what could come our way out there in the world. Maybe it’s the parent’s fault for not teaching kids what to expect. Maybe humans are so innocent that they never expect such cruel and perverted things to happen to their children. Well, is this another argument about whether or not parents should teach them what to expect and how to handle it? Are some parents so greedy to see their kid succeed that they turn the other cheek to what they know could happen? Then again, maybe it’s not fair to blame the parents because young people leave home and do what they want to do, even though parents talking and living by example never hurts. There are also young people trying to succeed in an industry and maybe they never had proactive parents. There are a million scenarios that we could throw in the mix, but one has been firing up my hot flashes and I truly want to poke somebody with a high heel. So I asked myself these questions and I answered them too.
Me: Why are you going to a hotel room for an interview? Are you stupid?
Fake person: This is how things are done in the “business”. You have to give to get
Me: Ok, so hotel rooms or offices with beds and couches are often the site of “interviews” but why did you go back to a hotel room a second time after he tried something perverted in the past?
Fake person: He promised not to try anything a second time. He also promised I could get work.
Me: So, how did that work out for you?
Fake person: I got work and now I wear designer clothes and I live in a fabulous home. I am rich.
Me: Congratulations! So why are you suing so many years later if it worked out for you?
Fake person: Because everybody else is suing and some victims didn’t succeed like we did so this is for them. I want those pigs humiliated.
Me: What would you say to the person who believes none of the sexual stuff they did really bothered you…that it’s just chic for you to act like you are appalled now?
Fake person: I would tell the person that it was painful, shameful and I don’t feel good about it but what was I to do? If I didn’t go to that room, I would be on welfare today. Who are you or anybody else to judge why some of us did what we had to do? There was no fake human resources or departmental manager who would understand. These perverts held the power over grown men and women, boys and girls and they used and abused it. If I didn’t take it, it wouldn’t matter because somebody else would. There is a green monster in every office and every studio. As well, there is a human at every turn who is willing to take a chance and sacrifice dignity for the possibility of hitting the big time.
Ok! Well I guess Fake person told me a thing or two. I don’t care. Nothing in the work world has ever been important enough to me to be violated or raped. It doesn’t matter what the job pays. It doesn’t pay enough. I mean, really! Can you imagine Dustin Hoffman coming at me with a shrimp cocktail in one hand and his little shrimp cocktail in the other hand? Can’t you just see two high heels being used as seafood forks and one woman running down the hallway? No, you can’t see that because I wouldn’t be there.©
